Last post I wrote about the thousands of shoes that appeared on a Miami highway.
Thankfully, there is a very positive update. A terrific charity, Soles4Souls, offered to collect the shoes and distribute them to people in Haiti. Sneakerheads, take note. This is a charity we should look into if we want to do some good with our sneaker passion. We maintain sneaker collections, yet Soles4Souls estimates that 300 Million people around the world don’t own a pair of shoes.

Veja has created a line of sneakers using organic cotton and fair trade rubber. Check out the promo video below:
So I scoped the Veja site. The good news is they have loads of styles & colorways. The bad news is that the site is almost entirely in French. Apparently the company is half-French, half-Brazilian. Anyway, they have a blog in English. If you’re into the social consciousness thing, you should check them out. They even have kids & baby shoes. Check out the fraises (strawberry) baby shoes- they are pretty nice. I also like the grey green Gramas- good color balance. Which one(s) do you like? And would you buy a sneaker to support green initiatives? After seeing these styles, I might.

I have started 2 features beyond the standard blog. Sneaker Love showcases sneaker-related art, memorabilia, and merchandise. The first post showcases Jason Markk sneaker cleaning kits. Here’s a preview:
Sneak of the Month will start in June and will highlight a shoe that people will want to know. Sometimes it might be a fresh sneaker that just dropped, or it may be a classic shoe that has held its own over time. Tune in this June to see the inaugural Sneak of the Month.
